New York Yankees Flashback: Beating “Sudden Sam”

A four-hour trip to see the New York Yankees take on the Nationals in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, June 16, 2013, gave us just what you’d want, an almost five-hour game. Andy Pettitte, striking out phenom Bryce Harper swinging three times, left the game with a 3-2 lead over Jordan Zimmermann and the Nats after seven, but Ian Desmond tied it with a home run off Corey Wade. DeWayne Wise extended the game by throwing Tyler Moore out at the plate on an Adam LaRoche eighth-inning single.
