The New York Yankees came out of Chicago winning two out of three games against the White Sox. The one loss was credited (technically) to Bryan Mitchell, who started his second major league game of his career. With Michael Pineda on the 15-day DL, there was a spot in the rotation up for someone to fill in, and Brian Cashman was looking to see what Mitchell had for an audition.
As Joe Girardi announced going into that game, he was looking for 75-80 pitches from Mitchell, and five innings would’ve been appreciated as well.
