New York Yankees 1B Luke Voit avoids surgery, set to begin rehab assignment

Can the Incredible Hulk actually get injured? If you’re one who frequents the Marvel Universe, perhaps the answer is obvious.

Luke Voit, the New York Yankees slugging first baseman/designated hitter, has been dealing with a sports hernia that’s kept him out of the lineup since July 30. In a piece of good news, coming down the pipe on Friday, Voit has avoided surgery and is set to begin a minor-league rehab assignment, per Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News.
