Derek Jeter routinely played on rosters with high payrolls and overpriced stars. The ex-Yankees star apparently won't be conducting business like that as an owner.
According a report from the Miami Herald, Jeter's ownership group is planning to slash payroll in a significant way this offseason. That includes a fire sale of star players--including slugger Giancarlo Stanton.
According to two sources, the Marlins will look to trade outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, who's due $25 million next season, and also will try to trade second baseman Dee Gordon and third baseman Martin Prado.
