MLB rumors: Yankees, ex-Met Ike Davis considering deal?

The Yankees are in the mix to sign ex-Mets first baseman Ike Davis to a minor-league deal, according to the New York Post's Ken Davidoff.

With Greg Bird (shoulder surgery) out for the season, the Yankees are thin at first base depth and it's likely that Davis — if he were to take a deal with New York — would become the club's Triple-A first baseman.

Mark Teixeira, barring injury, is entrenched as the starter after a strong 2015 campaign that ended with a leg fracture in September. Utility man Dustin Ackley has been pegged as Teixeira's primary backup.
