On Wednesday, Yu Darvish let Twitter know the Yankees were still on his short list.
On Thursday, general manager Brian Cashman didn't sound so optimistic a deal would get done.
Speaking on WFAN radio, Cashman said he's been in contact with Darvish's agent, Joel Wolfe, but added that there would be some complications to signing him.
The biggest? That the Yankees are working with what's essentially a salary cap. Owner Hal Steinbrenner has said he wants to keep the team's payroll below the $197 million luxury tax threshold.
