KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There was a time in CC Sabathia’s sterling career when he would routinely pitch around a miscue or two behind him. The lefty simply added a few miles per hour to a fastball that overpowered hitters and picked up teammates.
As anybody who has been paying attention understands, those days have vanished. Sabathia has thrived as a finesse hurler, but the ability to use muscle to erase errors is no longer what has made him very successful in a second act.
