Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Mike Tauchman will join the Yankees in Washington.
A scout familiar with the 28-year-old outfielder, who was acquired Saturday from Colorado and forced Tyler Wade off the Opening Day roster, believes the Yankees made a smart move getting him.
“He can play center field. I put him in at a 55 defender [on a scale from 20 to 80]. He has good makeup and he always hit in the minor leagues. I don’t think the big-league numbers represent what he is,” the scout said of Tauchman, who has seen limited big-league time (52 games).
