Matt Blake gives glimpse at how he’ll improve Yankees pitching staff

Matt Blake has never been a pitching coach for a full season at the professional level — until now.

And that may be the biggest adjustment the 34-year-old faces after being introduced as the new Yankees’ pitching coach on Thursday.

“There’s a huge difference between preparing a plan and then the debriefing of the plan and then the execution of the plan that’s happening in the game,’’ Blake said during a conference call. “At the major league level, it happens fast.”

The Yankees hired Blake away from the Indians, where he’d just been promoted to Director of Pitching Development after three years as Cleveland’s assistant Director of Player Development.
