Joe Girardi doesn’t think Mark Teixeira will land on the disabled list with a neck problem, but that’s not to say the concern isn’t creeping into the Yankees manager’s mind when it comes to his best player.
Teixeira, who sat for a second straight game as the Yankees lost 11-6 to the Phillies at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, received a cortisone shot and had an MRI exam Monday. Since the first baseman has been fighting the problem since June 12, there has to be some degree of concern.
“As of right now I wouldn’t think so,’’ Girardi said of having to put Teixeira on the DL.
