Mark Teixeira gets night off and MRI of neck

Mark Teixeira has had a stiff neck for 10 days, so the Yankees sent him for an MRI Monday and gave him the night off against the Phillies.

Joe Girardi said Teixeira likely will miss Tuesday night's game. The Yankees did not immediately announce the results of the MRI.

"I don't know if it ever really went away completely," Girardi said. "It's been going on for about 10 days now. We'll continue to evaluate. I'm just going to give him a day."

Girardi also gave Teixeira a day off last Wednesday. Garrett Jones started at first base Monday night.
