NEW YORK (WFAN) — Don’t be so quick to assume Brian McCann’s days with the Yankees are numbered.
MLB Network’s Mark DeRosa, who describes McCann as his “best friend in the game,” told WFAN’s Mike Francesa on Wednesday that the catcher would “100 percent” be interested in remaining with the Bronx Bombers as a designated hitter and backup to phenom Gary Sanchez.
“I don’t think he wants to leave,” said DeRosa, a former utilityman with the Braves and several other teams. “He loves New York. He loves it here.”
McCann has three years and $49 million remaining on his contract and a full no-trade clause.
