Luke Voit returns from injury, Gio Urshela hits the IL with groin strain

The Yankees announced on Friday that first baseman Luke Voit has returned from his rehab assignment in the minor leagues. To open up a spot on the roster, the team placed infielder Giovanny Urshela on the injured list, retroactive to August 29, with a left groin strain.

Voit ended up missing a month of action because of a sports hernia. He initially went down on July 30 in a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and a MRI confirmed the diagnosis at the time.

Voit has been one of the most productive players of the season for the Bombers, hitting for a triple-slash line of .
