Luke Voit exits after taking harsh fastball to the face

Luke Voit left Saturday’s game against the Rockies after taking a pitch off his face in the bottom of the fourth.

The first baseman was hit in the jaw on an 0-2, 91-mph pitch by Chad Bettis.

After a visit from the training staff, he briefly stayed in the game. With runners on first and second, Didi Gregorius then singled to right to score Austin Romine from second.

A wild pitch sent Gregorius to second and Voit scored on Gleyber Torres’ two-run single to left.

Voit didn’t come out for the top of the fifth, as DJ LeMahieu moved from third to first and Gio Urshela entered the game at third base.
