Luis Severino has pitched just 17 major league innings and spent just two weeks with the Yankees. But that’s been enough to make a heck of an impression.
Enough that Severino is being called the best deadline deal the Yankees didn’t make. Enough that when the hard-throwing rookie was out in front of Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, helping kids from Southern Boulevard School in Chatham, NJ, in a school supplies drive as part of HOPE Week, Jennifer Steinbrenner came up to him and thanked him.
“I’d never met her. I said hello, and she said thank for all that you’re doing,’’ Severino said of the daughter of late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.
