Looking to the Season’s End, the Yankees Again Shift Luis Severino’s Start

Manager Joe Girardi shuffled his rotation at the beginning of this week, pushing Luis Severino’s scheduled start from Wednesday to Friday for two reasons: First, it would prevent the Minnesota Twins, a potential opponent for the Yankees in a wild-card playoff game, from getting a look at Severino. Second, it would give Severino — in his first full major-league season — a few extra days of rest.

But in a nod to the fluid nature of the American League East, and of wild-card playoff races, Girardi changed his mind on Tuesday: Severino, he said, would start on Wednesday against the Twins.
