TORONTO — The breeze-at-their-backs victories that the Yankees cruised to the first two days of the season gave way Saturday to the inevitabilities of the long slog of a baseball season.
The Yankees suffered their first lost, beaten by the Toronto Blue Jay, 5-3, on Yangervis Solarte’s eighth-inning solo homer off Dellin Betances, who was further embarrassed when Kevin Pillar stole second, third and then home against him.
But the Yankees’ losses went beyond that as left fielder Billy McKinney, who made his major league debut the previous day, and reliever Adam Warren left the game with injuries.
