Keon Broxton’s batting glove hits umpire in strange ejection

Hitting someone in the face with your glove once meant you wanted to duel. For Keon Broxton on Monday night, it meant getting ejected.

The brief Mets outfielder, now with the Mariners, was called out looking by home plate umpire Manny Gonzalez on a J.A. Happ 3-2 pitch to end the top of the second inning against the Yankees. It appeared to be a borderline strike on the outside corner and the Mariners had already scored three times in the frame to cut the Yankees lead to 4-3 at T-Mobile Park.

A seemingly disgusted Broxton reacted by tossing his bat in front of the plate, flipping his helmet off and throwing his left batting glove backward toward home plate without looking.
