Jordan Montgomery ready for any Yankees opportunity

TAMPA — Jordan Montgomery isn’t sure where he’ll fit into the Yankees’ plans this season, because they are set to enter spring training with five starters.

But the 27-year-old, who returned from Tommy John surgery in September, knows if he stays healthy, he’ll likely have a role in The Bronx at some point.

“Things always happen, so the more arms you have, the better,’’ Montgomery said Monday at the Yankees’ minor league complex. “I’ve got to be ready.”

Montgomery went 9-7 with a 5.88 ERA in 2017, but made just two starts in 2018 before needing surgery and just two appearances last September.
