The franchise plays under a microscope like no other, with the fans expecting a championship or bust, even if the younger generation of Steinbrenner ownership has moved away from a focus on rings and instead holds the wallet in the highest regard.
Ownership may have pivoted away from that sort of mentality, but it's still prevalent in all other corners of the city that never sleeps. The media and the fans are relentless; this is nothing new.
