There is room for both Ike Davis and Lucas Duda to be New York first basemen.
The Yankees are bringing in Davis, the former Met, after the first baseman was released by the Rangers earlier Sunday. Davis, who had been in Triple-A, and the Yankees agreed on a major-league deal, according to FanRag Sports’ John Heyman. The Post’s Ken Davidoff first reported there had been contact between the Yankees and Davis’ representatives.
Davis will join a Yankees position that has seemingly been cursed. From Greg Bird to Mark Teixeira to Dustin Ackley to Chris Parmelee, injuries befell anyone the Yankees trotted out there until they were forced to play Rob Refsnyder out of position at first.
