On the night of May 29, at Yankee Stadium, CC Sabathia gave up five runs, three earned, in five innings of work against the Astros. Not terrible, given the considerable quality of the competition. Yet not one for the “Yankeeography,” either, and new dynamo Jonathan Holder relieved Sabathia to start the sixth inning.
Amber Sabathia, CC’s wife, remained at the game. With her laser focus no longer required on the action, however, she decided to do some pitching of her own — to “Saturday Night Live” star and enthusiastic Yankees fan Leslie Jones.
“She was still sitting there cheering,” Amber Sabathia recalled in a recent interview.
