Harper: Dibble calls Yankees trade for Chapman 'genius'

As a member of one of the more famous bullpens in baseball history and an ex-Cincinnati Red who has gotten to know Aroldis Chapman, Rob Dibble has a unique perspective on the Yankees’ attempt to build the most lethal end-of-game scenario ever.

“I think it’s genius," Dibble said by phone on Wednesday.

Well, why wouldn’t he? Decades before the Royals’ recent success has made deep, dominant bullpens the newest trend in baseball, Dibble, Randy Myers, and Norm Charlton dominated the late innings for the 1990 World Champion Reds with enough attitude and velocity to earn the distinctive nickname, the ‘Nasty Boys.
