Giancarlo Stanton already resting in odd Yankees decision

After playing just one game since returning from the injured list, Giancarlo Stanton wasn’t in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Rays in the Bronx.

Boone said he intended to give Stanton a day off in one of his first three games back and picked Wednesday because it was a day game after a night game. Still, it seemed an odd choice with left-hander Blake Snell on the mound for Tampa Bay.

Stanton went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Tuesday night in his first game back from biceps, shoulder and calf issues. He had missed all but the first three games of the season.
