It’s been more than a decade since Mike Grahovac coached Gerrit Cole at Orange Lutheran High School outside of Los Angeles, and Grahovac still remembers Cole’s father, Mark, charting everything his son was doing on the mound.
“I’m an old-school coach and want guys to throw and throw. His dad always had a notebook and kept track of everything, from how many pitches he threw in bullpens to what days he was pitching,” Grahovac recalled this week. “They paid attention to his arm to get him to this point in his life.
