From flying with Cory Lidle to covering Roy Halladay, it's a sad small world

My mind has been racing back and forth from 2006 to 2010 since Tuesday afternoon's shocking news came out that retired two-time Cy Young winner Roy Halladay died in a plane crash.

This hit home.

I covered Halladay as a Phillies beat writer and was in the press box at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia for his October 2010 National League Division Series no-hitter, the best pitched game I've ever seen in person.

I also was not only friendly with late Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle, but in 2006 we flew a two-seat small plane together eight months before he died flying his new single-engine plane into a Manhattan Upper East Side apartment building.
