For Final Out, Astros Tag Yankees’ Jacoby Ellsbury at Home Plate

The Yankees have finally come up with a reliable method to score on Dallas Keuchel: Load the bases, get Jacoby Ellsbury to the plate and wait for their $153 million center fielder to deliver in baseball’s one offensive category that he has made his own: catcher’s interference.

The problem is, not even Ellsbury, who is well on the way to claiming the major league record for that obscure statistic, could do it often enough Thursday night to finagle a victory. It worked in the fifth inning between the Yankees and the Astros, and accounted for their first run of the game.
