ESPN botches CC Sabathia montage in worst way

Rule one of making a montage honoring a player: make sure you’re using a picture of said player.

ESPN had a montage ready to go for CC Sabathia, who came into its broadcast of Sunday night’s Yankees-Red Sox game with 249 career wins. One slide, though, displayed Aaron Hicks, with a “leads active pitchers with 249 wins” graphic splashed across the bottom.

Hicks, an outfielder, most certainly does not lead active pitchers with 249 wins.

Besides plainly not being Sabathia, Hicks also throws right-handed, where as Sabathia is left-handed. Sabathia didn’t pick up his milestone 250th win, as the Yankees lost, 8-5.
