NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)Yankees right-hander Nathan Eovaldi underwent successful Tommy John surgery Friday, the team announced.

Eovaldi is expected to miss the rest of this season and the entire 2017 season after partially tearing the ulnar collateral ligament and tearing the flexor tendon in his pitching elbow. He also had the flexor tendon repaired Friday.

It marked the second time Eovaldi, 26, has had Tommy John surgery. He also had the procedure as a 17-year-old high school pitcher.
