Jose Altuve is an outlier on the Houston Astros in many categories. That’s what happens when you are the front-runner for the Most Valuable Player Award in the American League. Altuve has the most hits, stolen bases and total bases on the team, and he leads in batting average and on-base-plus-slugging percentage, or OPS.
And there is one other category in which he stands out: He is 5 feet 6 inches, the team’s shortest player, and one of the shortest in the game.
On Friday, the Astros begin the American League Championship Series against the Yankees, who have their own outlier.
