Clint Frazier’s Yankees future has never been more unclear

CHICAGO — Clint Frazier contributed a single in five at-bats to the Yankees’ 10-3 stomping of the White Sox on Sunday afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field (worst ballpark name ever). In the wake of what transpired after the game, it’s fair to wonder what uniform the 24-year-old will be wearing the next time he gets a major league hit.

With Edward Encarnacion set to join the team Monday in The Bronx, the Yankees optioned Frazier to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, saving him a superfluous flight back to New York. It represented a rip-off-the-Band-Aid decision by the Yankees, who essentially gave the lesser bat and better glove Mike Tauchman an extra day on the roster before he too gets demoted to make room for the rehabilitated Giancarlo Stanton.
