Chase Headley turns to 3rd base stars to cure fielding funk

TAMPA — As Chase Headley tries to put a nightmarish 2015 season behind him, he’s been spending plenty of time with infield coach Joe Espada in an attempt to fix some bad footwork that helped cause a career-high 23 errors.

But the two have also been watching video together of some recent Gold Glove winners — even if both know Headley isn’t able to do many of the things he’s seeing.

“We’ve watched guys like [Colorado’s Nolan] Arenado and [Tampa Bay’s Evan] Longoria,” Headley said. “I’m not looking for the spectacular plays that they make — just the routine ones.
