The first third of this season was filled with frustration for CC Sabathia. The lefthander and those around him on the Yankees felt he’s pitched better than his numbers indicate. And the numbers entering play on Sunday were bad: a league-leading seven losses and a 5.45 ERA.
So when Sabathia had issues with how plate umpire Dan Bellino was calling balls and strikes, he wasn’t going to take it. Six innings into one of his best starts of the season, right after he got an inning-ending double play to maintain a three-run lead, the southpaw let Bellino know how he felt and got ejected before he could get to the foul line as he walked off the field.
