Brett Gardner scratched from Yankees lineup with sore knee

Brett Gardner was scratched from Sunday’s lineup with a sore left knee, according to Aaron Boone, adding to the injury issues the Yankees have faced throughout the season — especially with their outfielders.

Boone expected Gardner to be available Sunday and that the soreness was the product of wear and tear. He was replaced in the lineup by Mike Tauchman.

Cameron Maybin (strained left calf) is nearer to a return. Provided he doesn’t suffer a setback, he’ll start a rehab stint with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday in Columbus.
