Late Friday afternoon, Martino reported that San Diego is currently asking for Michael King, top pitching prospect Drew Thorpe, and as many as four of five other prospects in any Juan Soto trade (which could involve Trent Grisham as well). How much of this is negotiating through the media? How much of it is just initial bargaining? Who knows. But Friday was not kind to those fervently anticipating a Soto acquisition.
