Anthony Volpe injury update might reveal more Yankees malpractice with shortstop

Anthony Volpe's nightmare 2025 season has brought out the worst in New York Yankees fans. And it's not the kid's fault. He's just trying to play baseball. It's Brian Cashman's and Aaron Boone's fault for continuing to play him every day despite the troubling results (for three years running).

The truth is, Volpe probably doesn't possess the star power the Yankees envisioned when he was a top prospect. And that's OK. But he also wasn't supposed to be unplayable.

There are many factors that contribute to that. Volpe's hitting mechanics, lack of a consistent approach at the plate, his underwhelming arm strength, and questionable defensive instincts all play a role.
