Aaron Judge and Jose Altuve, Hot or Cold, Set the Pace in the A.L.C.S.

It is generally agreed that the winner of the Most Valuable Player Award in the American League this season will be either the Yankees’ Aaron Judge or the Houston Astros’ Jose Altuve, who are currently battling in the American League Championship Series.

They present a contrast in styles of play — Judge a slugger who led the A.L. in home runs and strikeouts, and Altuve a contact hitter with some pop who has led the league in batting for three of the past four seasons. And there is an almost comical contrast in their sizes, the 6-foot 7-inch, 265-pound Judge towering more than a foot above the 5-6, 165-pound Altuve.
