Aaron Boone didn’t sound like a manager in a hurry to employ the “opener’’ strategy, but didn’t rule it out completely in a certain situation.
“I can see a scenario. Look if we are healthy and have perfect health you don’t envision that. I could see a handful of times where it could potentially be in play for us,’’ said Boone, who explained he wouldn’t start a game with a reliever and follow with a starter.
Boone said Gary Sanchez not taking batting practice at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Sunday was planned. The catcher is scheduled for early work on Monday.
