The Latest Yankees Rumors On Alex Rodriguez To The Marlins, Luis Severino, Brett Gardner Injury And More

The New York Yankees, at 60-57, aren't out of the AL Wild Card race, but they are 4.5 games back. With the trade deadline over, the Yankees are focused on the rest of the season and it's likely only a matter of time before the youth movement in New York gets started. While the Hot Stove has cooled off substantially, there still rumors floating around. Check out all the latest Yankees rumors and news below.

A-Rod To Marlins?
Alex Rodriguez has played his last game for the New York Yankees. However, his MLB career might not be over. Former MLB GM and current ESPN analyst Jim Bowden is convinced Rodriguez is heading to the Miami Marlins.

The Marlins did lose Giancarlo Stanton for the rest of the year, so Rodriguez could provide a needed power bat. However, Rodriguez' power numbers have dropped substantially this year. He's just four home runs shy of 700 and returning to South Beach (where he lives), could appeal to Rodriguez.

However, A-Rod's publicist says he won't be playing for any team this year

Luis Severino Sent Down (Again)
The tumultuous season for Luis Severino has hit another low point. Called back up to the majors to replace an injury Nathan Eovaldi, Severino was lit up against the Tampa Bay Rays, giving up seven runs on eight hits in just 3.2 innings of work. His ERA is now at 7.19 this year, a far cry from his impressive season last year. He's quickly been sent back down.

Manager Joe Girardi blames Severino's struggles on teams figuring Severino out and the lack of a third pitch. Severino has, by his own admission, lost confidence in his changeup. Until he can use that pitch more than the 2-5 times per game he's been using it, he'll likely continue to struggle in a starting role. The Yankees hope sending Severino down will help him figure out his problems.

Brett Gardner Injury
The Yankees have been without OF Brett Gardner for the last two games as he recovers from an ankle injury. Gardner said he hopes he can play Monday, although that decision has not yet been made. It's not the worst injury for the team, as the Yankees have Aaron Judge and Tyler Austin on the roster. With Gardner out Sunday, Judge looked sharp again. Still, with the Yankees trying to win games and push for the postseason, they'd like to have Gardner healthy.
