Yankees Rumors: Yankees to take another look at free agent Stephen Drew?

In Yankees rumors today, the injury-ravaged New York Yankees may look to a second baseman they allegedly had eyes on this offseason as a potential signing in the near future.

According to New York Daily News writer John Harper, the New York Yankees need to take another look at acquiring free agent second baseman Stephen Drew: "Put simply: Isn’t it time for them to bite the bullet and go sign Stephen Drew? Give him two years, $20 million and you have to believe Drew, who has to be desperate at this point, would come running, no matter what Scott Boras may be insisting that he get."

NY Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has insisted that the Yankees' near-half-billion dollar spending spree this offseason is over, with either cost-effective replacements or players from inside the organization the answer for now.

However, if second baseman Brian Roberts can't come back and be effective with his back issues, the New York Yankees may serious revisit the Yankees rumors from this summer with Stephen Drew -- perhaps pulling the trigger on a deal this time.
