Yankees Rumors: Trade deadline update, deal for pitching upcoming?

In this Yankees rumors and news update, the New York Yankees are reportedly actively looking for upgrades to their pitching staff with the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline less than 48 hours away.

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Yankees are diligently engaging with potential trade suitors in order to pick up reinforcements for the upcoming stretch run:

The Yankees have been linked to several top-tier starting pitchers on the market, including Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price. However, with the current state of New York's farm system, a more likely option would be San Diego Padres starter Ian Kennedy - provided the Padres are still listening to offers.

From a bullpen standpoint, the Yankees' tact will likely depend on their trust in current closer David Robertson. The Yankees have been rumored to be looking at Tampa's Grant Balfour and San Diego's Joaquin Benoit, looking to perhaps straddle the line by acquiring a proven back-of-the-bullpen arm who could step into the closing role if necessary.
