Yankees Rumors: Mark Teixeira's wrist injury to take full year to heal

The latest Yankees rumors are raising some doubts about whether or not power-hitting Yankees' first baseman Mark Teixeira's surgically repaired right wrist will be back at full strength during the 2014 Major League Baseball season.

According to the Wall Street Journal, New York Yankees' doctors have told Teixeira that it "will take a year for his wrist to feel fully normal, and that the tightness will likely remain throughout." However, doctors are optimistic that the ECU tendon sheath in Mark Teixiera's right wrist will continue to strengthen with repeated therapy and with every swing of the bat.

While Teixiera's rehabilitation has gone according to schedule, there are still doubts around the New York Yankees' organization that the five-time Gold Glove first baseman will ever be back to playing at the superstar level which led to him being the runner-up for the 2009 American League MVP award.

While Yankees rumors are remaining quiet surrounding the possibility of finding an outside insurance plan in case Mark Teixeira can't come back at the level of play the New York Yankees are accustomed to, it will still be an interesting story to gauge as the 2014 MLB season progresses.
