Yankees Rumors: Derek Jeter announces he will retire after the 2014 season

Yankees rumors mean nothing compared to this--New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter has just announced that he will retire after the 2014 season.

ESPN.com broke the story just moments ago, as Derek Jeter  posted a fifteen paragraph goodbye on his Facebook page at around 2pm EST--

"I want to start by saying thank you...it was months ago when I realized this season would be my last...The 2014 season will be my last playing professional baseball."

Jeter added many heartfelt wishes and thank yous to the entirety of the New York Yankees fan base, writing, "NY made me stronger, kept me more focused, and made me a better more well-rounded person."

As of right now, the New York Yankees are stating that they have not been officially informed by Derek Jeter of his retirement plans.
