Yankees Rumors: Cliff Lee trade update, Yankees out?

In this Yankees rumors and news update, the New York Yankees are reportedly cooling off on the idea of trading for Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cliff Lee.

According to Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York, Lee's shaky outing on Monday in his first start back from an elbow injury could be scaring the Bronx Bombers out of the market for the veteran lefty:

As of today, the Yankees are not hot and heavy for him, a source told ESPN New York. The Phillies are asking for a lot at this point for Lee, even though he will turn 36 at the end of August and is owed anywhere from $47.5 million to $62.5 million over the next three years. There are questions about his health, which he didn't quell Monday in his return from the DL.

Lee has one more scheduled start to go prior to the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline. He will likely have to show vast improvement in both command and general stuff for a contender to be willing to take on the financial commitment necessary to land him.
