Trending Yankees News: Is Derek Jeter "failing the Yankees"?

In today's Yankees news update, Mark Simon of ESPN New York may raise the ire of some New York Yankees fans with the headline from his latest article posted on Sunday: Ellsbury, Jeter, McCann are failing Yankees.

Jacoby Ellsbury and Brian McCann are recent signings who don't inspire nearing the same devotion from the Bombers' fan base as Jeter does, so calling them out for "failing" the team doesn't resonate nearly as much.

But, the Yankees' captain?

"Derek Jeter is now 4-for-30 this month, and it has become talk-show fodder that the time has arrived to move Jeter down in the lineup," writes Simon. "That may be warranted. Jeter currently ranks last in the majors in isolated power, a stat that measures a hitter's ability to garner extra bases on his hits (in other words, hit doubles, triples and home runs)."

While it's true that Jeter's struggles have been a big talking point for members of the New York media, is it true that the soon-to-retire future Hall-of-Famer isn't carrying his weight anymore?
