Report: Yankees closing in on trade for Padres' Chase Headley

In today's Yankees trade rumors and news update, the New York Yankees are currently working towards a deal that would land them San Diego Padres third baseman Chase Headley.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Yankees and Padres look to be in advanced stages of negotiations:

The New York Yankees have been linked to Headley before, with trade rumors swirling last season around this same time. While nothing ever came of said speculation, it now seems that the two sides will finally come to an agreement that will send Headley to the Bronx.

Headley is currently hitting .229/.296/.355 with seven home runs and 32 RBIs in 307 at-bats. 2014 has been a down year for the 30-year-old at the plate, but the former Gold Glove recipient's defense remains impressive enough to make him an intriguing commodity on the trade market.
