New York Yankees Rumors: Derek Jeter discusses PEDs, says everyone isn't "cheating"

When Derek Jeter's name comes up in New York Yankees rumors, scandal is rarely involved. So, it should be no surprise that the New York Yankees' captain handled questions about PED use in baseball on Wednesday with a touch of his normal grace.

Speaking with Bob Klapisch of NorthJersey.com, the New York Yankees' future Hall-of-Famer made it clear that he believes the outside assumption that everyone playing baseball is using steroids is patently false--“When people say that everyone is [cheating] it isn’t true. It couldn’t be further from the truth."

Despite being firmly in the camp of those who want performance enhancing drugs out of the game, Derek Jeter has never been of the mind to publicly denounce players who have used them

“You don’t have to be on a mountaintop beating your chest, scream and yell, to make your opinion known,” the New York Yankees shortstop stated to Klapisch. “There are ways to say it.”

With the weight of his 20th and final season as a New York Yankee starting to sink in, every last thing that Derek Jeter says or does will be amplified as the 2014 Major League Baseball season progresses.

Just don't expect the New York Yankees' figurehead to jump head-first into the steroids debate any time soon.
