The USWNT takes on South Africa in the first of two Olympic send-off matches.
In the first of two Olympic send-off matches, the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) will look to continue its unbeaten streak against South Africa in an international friendly on Saturday, July 9 at Soldier Field in Chicago.
The match will be the first ever meeting of the two teams, although South Africa, currently ranked 68th in the world, also qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Rio, their second consecutive trip to the Summer Games.
The match is meant to further the USWNT's Olympic preparations, but that aspect of the game may be overshadowed by the players' continued fight for equal payment.
