The United States women’s national team (USWNT) continued their unbeaten streak through the end of their 2016 schedule with a 5-0 win over Romania in the team’s final match of the year.
The two teams previously met on Thursday night, a 8-1 win for the USWNT. Sunday night’s match did not start out much like Thursday night at all. While the USWNT did once again dominate the first half in regards to possession and shots (11 shots to Romania’s 0), they failed to finish all but one of their chances on goal.
Crystal Dunn had a ball deflect off a Teodora Meluta, a Romanian defender, for an own goal and managed to knock in a second one just before half time, but she had previously skied one shot and sent another one wide of the near post early in the half.
