The Red Bulls struggled early on, but held their nerve to advance with ease via a 3-1 win in the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal series vs. Club Tijuana on Tuesday night at Red Bull Arena.
The Red Bulls, who were leading 2-0 on aggregate thanks to their Leg 1 win in Mexico, got a little scare when Luis Mendoza struck in the opening stages to raise Xolos’ comeback hopes. But Tyler Adams finished a lightning-quick counterattack 18 minutes later to ease the home side’s nerves.
The Red Bulls dominated after the break, with Marc Rzatkowski and Alejandro “Kaku” Romero Gamarra exploiting Tijuana’s exposed defense.
